Our Commitment to Respectful Engagement

Respectful and Courteous Behaviour

At Parent-Friendly Schools, we are dedicated to creating a warm, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone in our community. As a member of this community, it is important to uphold professional standards and treat others with kindness, empathy, and respect. All contributions should be appropriate for a diverse audience, recognising the variety of perspectives and backgrounds present.

We do not tolerate posts or behaviours that include:

  • Illegal content
  • Pornographic, sexually explicit, or adult material
  • Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory content
  • Graphic, violent, or disturbing imagery
  • Inflammatory language, such as name-calling, rants, or aggressive outbursts

Committing to courteous and respectful conduct creates a positive and collaborative community where learning, development, and connection flourish.

Protecting Your Privacy

Your privacy matters. You are responsible for sharing personal information within the Parent-Friendly Schools community.

To help keep your data safe:

  • Be mindful of what you post in public forums
  • Avoid sharing personal contact details (e.g. your email or phone number) unless necessary
  • Adjust your privacy settings to control who can view your information

While Parent-Friendly Schools takes steps to safeguard our digital space, it is equally essential for each member to actively protect their privacy.

Meaningful Participation

We encourage thoughtful, purposeful participation to get the most from your membership. Engage in discussions and groups that align with your interests, and contribute to the community by sharing your knowledge, experiences, and feedback.

Valuable contributions include:

  • Checking existing discussions before starting a new topic
  • Offering constructive, supportive responses
  • Commenting thoughtfully on topics that resonate with you
  • Registering for events and actively taking part

Participating with intention will help build a richer, more impactful community experience for all.

Sharing Content Respectfully

We welcome and celebrate the great work you’re doing. To help your contributions shine:

  • Always give credit to others when sharing their work
  • Link to the original source when posting someone else’s content
  • Respect copyright and intellectual property – include proper attribution where required

This helps foster a culture of mutual respect and professional integrity. If using the resources and practice shared by others in a public forum, be careful to credit them for their contribution to your work.

Using Community Features Responsibly

Parent-Friendly Schools offers several features to support member interaction, including private messaging. These should be used responsibly and not for self-promotion or spam.

Avoid the following:

  • Using likes, comments, or messages to draw attention to your own profile
  • Misusing features for personal gain or in ways unrelated to their intended purpose
  • Leaving irrelevant comments to increase visibility
  • Posting promotional content or repeated messages in multiple groups

Using these tools appropriately supports a respectful and engaging space for all members.

Private Messaging: Best Practice

Private messaging can help strengthen collaboration and build relationships. When using this feature:

  • Keep messages relevant to community topics
  • Personalise your message – include the recipient’s name, why you’re reaching out, and what interests you about their work.
  • Only contact others with a clear and relevant purpose – avoid vague requests.

Appropriate and well-considered messaging helps build meaningful, respectful connections.
